The Orlando City Council unanimously passed a moratorium on after-hour night clubs on Monday afternoon, a measure that will re-examine the way the late night establishments operate and if any changes are needed.
The moratorium targets after-hour clubs only. This means clubs that operate from 2am to 7am and serve alcoholic beverages. The moratorium extends to October 2016.
“We’ve had an issue with raves back in the day. We thought we might consider the effects and study this before we allow more after-hours clubs.” said Mayor Buddy Dyer.
The ordinance also establishes a Nightclub Task Force, which will be composed of City staff that will study the conditions surrounding public safety and welfare and report back to the Mayor.
