Representatives from Visit Orlando, the regional tourism association told the Orange County Commission on Tuesday morning, they expect record breaking numbers when the final figures are calculated from 2015. Orlando broke the previous last year with over 60 million visitors.
Travel to Orlando International Airport will likely break traffic records with over 38 million visitors, with domestic travel up 6.4% and international travel up 17.5%.
Travel from Brazil is up with more visitors visiting the sunshine state than anyone else. The visitor count from the United Kingdom was also on the rise.
The Orange County Convention Center was selected as the number #1 medium convention destination, and the number of occupied hotel rooms was another record breaking accomplishment.
While the report was almost entirely positive, Commissioners did voice the need for some additional initiatives including bigger pushes into different regions of the world such as China and the Caribbean, and more progress with ecotourism programs.
Moving into 2016, Visit Orlando plans on increasing it’s digital and mobile promotions to raise awareness and continue the record breaking trend into next year.
