Former Seminole County Commissioner Grant Maloy likely won the competitive race to be the next Clerk of Courts and Comptroller for Seminole County, outlasting fellow former Seminole County Commissioner Mike McLean and former Seminole County Sheriff Captain Sammy Gibson. Maloy will only face two write-ins in November.
Retiring Clerk Maryanne Morse had endorsed Maloy as her successor. She is leaving the office after more than 25 years of service. A statement on his Facebook page reads the following.
“We did it! First, thank you so much to our dedicated volunteers. I could not have had this victory tonight without you. Secondly, my family who supported me through it all. Last but not least, thank you to the Republican voters of Seminole County for choosing to give me the opportunity to serve you as our Clerk of the Court and Comptroller.
Looking forward to November’s election and to serving all of the voters of Seminole County. God Bless.”
