Congressman Ron DeSantis moved one step closer to reelection in Florida’s 6th District with a Republican primary win on Tuesday night. He now moves on to the general election in the right-leaning Volusia county seat.
DeSantis outlasted State Representative Fred Costello and the G.G Galloway in the Republican primary and will face Bill McCulloh in November, who won his Democratic primary besting Dwayne Taylor and George Pappas.
DeSantis ran for Senate earlier this year before incumbent Marco Rubio decided to seek reelection after his failed run for the White House, the field cleared when DeSantis returned except for Costello and Galloway who decided to stay in the contest.
This would be DeSantis’ third term if elected this November.
