Officials with the Orlando International Airport are expecting a 9.4% increase in Thanksgiving Holiday travel this year.
Over the 12-day holiday travel period from Thursday, November 17th and ending November 28th, some 1.4 million passengers are expected at Orlando International Airport.
The busiest in-bound days were actually over the past weekend, which indicates visitors staying in town longer than other average destinations to enjoy the warmer weather, resorts and other amenities in the area. The least busiest day over the period is actually Thanksgiving day itself with 95,000 passengers expected. The most traveled day will be this Saturday when travelers began to head home.
In addition to the bump in traffic for the Thanksgiving holiday, OIA continues to be on a record setting pace for the year. This comes as a $3.1 billion dollar renovation project is underway that includes a new terminal, intermodal transportation center, and other security and customer service improvements.
