Representatives with the Orlando International Airport are apologizing for the recent breakdown of it’s tram, which are responsible for moving millions of visitors through OIA each year.
“On behalf of the Orlando International Airport, I apologize for the inconvenience to our passengers for Sunday’s and today’s APM disruptions.” said Executive Director Phil Brown “Safety and customer service are our top priorities for our passengers and the Board and staff are extremely concerned about making sure those priorities are maintained. There is no justification for future interruptions to occur.”
OIA officials point to safety triggers integrated into the tram system by it’s manufacturer Mitsubishi and has expressed their concerns for the recent stoppages of service. They note because of the new running surfaces in place they can’t return to the old system.
After checking in at OIA visitors are guided to the tram area, where they catch the their trams to their gates to board their flights. When the trams break down visitors accumulate to the entrance of their trams causing back ups at putting passengers at risk of arriving at their destinations late.
