Congresswoman Val Demings is renewing her objections to the American Health Care Act, after a report released by the Congressional Budget Office on Wednesday, estimates the Obamacare replacement would leave 23 million without health care.
Demings along with every other Democrat in the House of Representatives voted against the measure when it passed the house earlier this month before an evaluation from the CBO was released.
“House Republicans pushed this bill through recklessly, hiding from Americans what we knew to be true, this bill will leave millions of Americans behind.” says Demings arguing that allowing states to issue waivers would allow them to discriminate against pre-existing conditions.”
The CBO does estimate that the bill will cut $116 billion dollars from the national deficit, a major selling point for Conservatives. “Trumpcare” as some are calling it, does face a tougher sell in the Senate with some Republicans objecting to how the cuts will effect seniors.
Demings and the other Democratic members of the Orlando delegation also slammed the Trump budget proposal released on Tuesday calling it “cruel”.
“Republicans can’t have a clear conscious about voting for this cruel legislation.” continues Demings “This is about protecting the people who sent us here. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to think about those people, and ask themselves who doesn’t deserve health care?”
