Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy is applauding two grants from the Department of Education that will be awarded to the University of Central Florida and Rollins College. The grants come from the “Upward Bound” program, which is designed to prepare low-income high school students for college.
UCF will receive $772,500 while Rollins will receive $322,335. Both schools are located in Murphy’s 7th Congressional District. UCF remains one of the largest schools in the country in terms of enrllment and the Congresswoman was once an instructor at Rollins.
“UCF and Rollins College already provide outstanding education to tens of thousands of central Florida students, and I’m so proud to see they are doing more to strengthen the pipeline to college for students from underserved communities,” said Murphy. “These grants will provide UCF and Rollins with critical resources to maintain a full range of counseling and tutoring services to help students graduate high school and attain a college degree.”
